Angels Sell More Than 30,000 Single-Game Tickets On First Day Of Sale

Angels single-game tickets "went on sale Saturday morning and moved just as briskly as season-ticket packages have been moving since December," when the team announced deals with 1B Albert Pujols and P C.J. Wilson, according to Bill Plunkett of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. Just over 30,000 tickets "were sold on the first day with Opening Night against the Royals (April 6) nearly sold out." The Angels also pushed their total of "season tickets (or full-season equivalents) sold to 22,346." That represents an "increase of more than 1,000" over '11 (OCREGISTER.com, 3/3). However, in L.A., Mike DiGiovanna noted a "technical glitch in the Ticketmaster computer system just as tickets went on sale at 9 a.m. PST left some fans frustrated." Those requesting tickets for the three-game series against the Yankees on May 28-30 "were re-directed to a Sept. 22 game" against the White Sox. Angels VP/Communications Tim Mead said that the problem "was cleared up within 20 minutes" (L.A. TIMES, 3/4).
