Overnight Ratings: ABC's Regionalized Window Tops Weekend College Football

ABC’s regional college football coverage in the 3:30pm ET window on Saturday led all college football telecasts over the weekend with a 4.1 overnight Nielsen rating. The window featured Ohio State’s upset of Illinois and Oklahoma State’s blowout win over Texas. ESPN’s Michigan-Michigan State telecast topped all games on cable with a 3.6 overnight in the 12:00pm window. The net’s Florida-Auburn game earned a 2.6 overnight opposite Fox’ series-clinching ALCS Game Six (5.0 overnight) and ABC’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bank of America 500 on Saturday night. CBS saw a slight uptick for their SEC football coverage, with the LSU-Tennessee game up slightly from Arkansas-Auburn last year. ABC’s coverage of the Izod IndyCar Series World Championships yesterday, which was marred by the death of driver Dan Wheldon, averaged a 1.5 overnight rating.

The chart below lists overnight Nielsen ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
