In The Studio: Reviewing The Positives, Negatives Of PGA Tour's FedExCup

As a companion to his piece in this week's SportsBusiness Journal, golf writer Michael Smith assesses the positives and negatives of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup following the fifth year of the format. Smith characterizes the TV audience numbers as "up and down" for the four tournaments involved, which compete for weekend viewers with the NFL, college football and late-season MLB games. Smith: "The bottom line is, does it resonate with viewers? I don't think we have a firm yes or no answer right now." He also compares the system to the BCS and NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup, as all three systems have undergone regular tweaks.
