Overnight Ratings: NBC Up For PGA Tour; Mixed Bag For U.S. Open On CBS

The opening weekend of college football topped all sports telecasts over Labor Day weekend. NBC on Monday aired coverage of the final round of the PGA Tour Deutsche Bank Championship, which saw Webb Simpson defeat Chez Reavie in a playoff. That overnight is up 9.5% from a 2.1 for last year’s final round, which saw Charley Hoffman win the event by five strokes. While NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage from Atlanta on ESPN was delayed until Tuesday, ESPN2 aired the Nationwide Series Great Clips 300 on Saturday night, earning a 1.1 overnight, flat compared to last year. CBS had a mixed bag for its three windows of U.S. Open coverage over the holiday weekend. The net earned a 1.3 overnight on Saturday (+8.3%), 1.6 on Sunday (-11.1%) and a 2.0 on Monday (flat). Listed below are overnight Nielsen ratings from broadcast TV sports telecasts over Labor Day weekend.
