Joe Goode Leaving Bank Of America For USGA Communications Department
JOE GOODE, 45, the longtime communications exec at Bank of America, is leaving to join the USGA, where he will be Managing Dir of Communications. Goode, whose title at Bank of America was Senior VP/Global Media Relations, will start with the USGA in early October. He had been with the bank for 15 years and oversaw brand, advertising and sports marketing communications. “I’m fortunate that a lot of my duties at the bank were in the golf space,” Goode said. “I look forward to helping the USGA promote everything they do for the good of the game. I look at the USGA as the social and cultural conscience of the game, and there’s a strong story to be told there.” Goode will be filling the position formerly held by RAND JERRIS, who was recently promoted to Senior Managing Director of Public Services. The USGA also is searching for a Senior Managing Director of Business Affairs, which it hopes to fill in the next month or two. In the past, Bank of America title-sponsored the Colonial on the PGA Tour and held a presenting sponsorship with the Chevron World Challenge. “We’re looking to expand and evolve the understanding of the USGA brand,” Jerris said. “We had nearly 100 people apply and Joe really stood out.” Jerris also said that the Chief Business Officer position formerly held by PETE BEVACQUA, who left in March and eventually joined CAA, would not be filled. Bevacqua’s old duties are being spread across multiple senior managing directors, including Jerris and the new hire for business affairs.
