What's Up For The Weekend With Pro Football HOF President & Exec Dir Stephen Perry

Ever wonder how executives in sports business spend their weekends? THE DAILY this week continues "What's Up For The Weekend," providing readers with an inside look at people in our industry. This week, we catch up with Pro Football HOF President & Exec Dir STEPHEN PERRY, who chatted with Staff Writer Theresa Manahan.

Q: What are your plans for this weekend?
Perry: I will be at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 5-7, witnessing the annual greatest weekend in pro football as seven legends of the game are enshrined here in America’s premier sports museum and showplace. On Saturday, Aug. 6 at 7:00pm ET the seven members of the 2011 class of enshrinees will make their profound and emotional acceptance speeches. It is truly a moving experience to hear the enshrinees tearfully express their heartfelt thanks to their parents, coaches, teammates and fans.

Q: What do you like to watch and read on the weekend?
Perry: I like to watch pro football games. I also enjoy reading historical or biographical books.

Q: What workout routines or activities do you like to do on the weekend?
Perry: I love to jog or use the machines at the exercise facility near my house. However, with the great summer weather we have been having lately, my workout routine has merged with my recreation routine, which is mostly golfing. I know that walking 18 holes of golf doesn’t provide the same exercise value as jogging or aerobics, but it is a lot more fun. I’ll plan to get back to a more vigorous workout routine soon.

Q: Favorite weekend getaway?
Perry: My wife SONDRA and I enjoy golfing at great courses right here in Canton.

Q: Best weekend ever?
Perry: I have had a lot of great weekends in Canton and in Hilton Head, S.C., but our “honeymoon” weekend in Niagara Falls many years ago is still the best.

Q: Favorite local restaurant?
Perry: We love Brookside Country Club and Bender's Tavern.
