planned RSNs in L.A.
Time Warner Cable made its second big sports media hire in six weeks, bringing in MARK SHUKEN to launch its two planned RSNs in L.A. Shuken will be Senior VP & GM of the channels, which hold the rights to the Lakers. He will have to launch two RSNs -- one in English, one in Spanish -- in time for the Lakers' '12-13 season. Shuken will report to DAVID RONE, whom TWC hired in May as President of the newly created TWC Sports division. Shuken had been President & CEO of DirecTV Sports Networks, where he oversaw three RSNs, which were rebranded as Root Sports at the start of this baseball season. The three RSNs covered sports in the Seattle, Denver and Pittsburgh markets. Shuken notified DirecTV that he was leaving at the end of last week.
