Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District Exec Dir Patrick Webb yesterday said that “nothing should prevent there being another big-time concert at Lambeau Field." Kenny Chesney held a concert at the stadium on June 11, and the event “had an estimated economic impact of nearly $5 million and was generally a success.” Webb: “If we can get over the hump of the field and some other issues, there is no reason why we can’t have another concert there” (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 6/30).

TAKING THEIR TIME: In San Jose, Mark Purdy notes it has been 26 months since MLB Commissioner Bud Selig "authorized a 'blue ribbon' committee to investigate the A's ballpark situation in the Bay Area," and there still has been "no decision." During the 26-month investigation, "surely every piece of information to be assembled has been assembled,” and Selig "has it all on his desk." San Jose’s plan and site “are pretty much shovel-ready,” but there is “no whiff of how Oakland would begin to pay for the property.” Purdy: “Regardless, both cities are owed an answer how to proceed before either municipality invests more time and money” (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 6/30).

LOVING CUP: In Ottawa, Maria Cook reports a plan “to create a monument to commemorate Lord Stanley and his gift to hockey” -- the Stanley Cup -- moved a “step closer to reality” yesterday. The National Capital Commission board “approved the proposed commemoration and the use of a site" near downtown Ottawa. The site will be “reserved for three years while financing is confirmed” (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 6/30).
