HORSE FEATHERS: NBC averaged 6.8 million viewers for the 6:08-6:55pm ET race portion of the Belmont Stakes last Saturday, up 44% from 4.7 million viewers for last year's race on ABC. The race also was the most-viewed Belmont that did not feature a horse competing for the Triple Crown since NBC last broadcast the race in '05 (NBC).

DRAFT AND FOLLOW: MLB Network averaged 167,000 viewers for its coverage of the first round of the '11 Draft last Monday from 7:00-11:06pm ET, down 10% from 186,000 for the coverage last year. The draft coverage ranked as MLB Net's eighth most-viewed program for the week (THE DAILY).

JUST FOR KICKS: Univision averaged a 2.2 rating and 4.86 million viewers for its telecast of the June 9 Mexico-Cuba CONCACAF Gold Cup match, ranking as the fifth most-viewed sports telecasts on all of TV for the week of June 6. The net finished second in primetime among all nets in the men 18-34 and 18-49 demos for the night, and outperformed CBS and NBC among adults 18-34 and 18-49 (THE DAILY)....Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic is averaging a 0.62 local rating in the DC market through five MLS DC United telecasts this season, up 340% from a 0.14 through the same period last year. DC United "hasn't had a higher average rating through five games since 2005," when the team was "coming off its fourth MLS Cup" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 6/14).

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS: Versus averaged 525,000 viewers for last Saturday's Izod IndyCar Series Firestone Twin 275s, the network's most-viewed IndyCar telecast since it began airing races in '09 (THE DAILY). IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard indicated that the "numbers would have been better if there wasn't a 70-minute break between the two races" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/16). Meanwhile, Speed averaged 781,000 million viewers for the June 10 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 400k, which was also held at Texas Motor Speedway. The telecast is up 8.6% from 719,000 viewers for the race last year (THE DAILY).

ACROSS THE RED RIVER: Oklahoma City's KOCO-ABC averaged a 14.5 local rating for the Mavericks-Heat NBA Finals, up 75% from last year's Lakers-Celtics series. The 14.5 rating marks the "highest average since Oklahoma City became a metered market in 1999" (DAILY OKLAHOMAN, 6/15).
