Clerk's Office said that the Louisville Arena Authority "has failed to pay $34,154 in assessments to the Louisville Downtown Management District from last year and faces an additional $21,166 in penalties and fees." In Louisville, Marcus Green notes the arena authority is "exempt from property taxes but is required to make payments, based on the assessed value of the KFC Yum! Center, to the management district, which uses the fees to provide services such as general security, cleaning and maintenance downtown" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 5/4).
WATCHING THE SCOREBOARD: The Univ. of Kentucky Board of Trustees yesterday "approved a plan to spend $6.25 million on new video scoreboards and a sound system at Commonwealth Stadium." The project "will be paid for entirely with private funds."
