DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR? ELWAY OUT OF ASCENT DEAL?

Ascent Entertainment Group said yesterday that its
acting CEO Charles Neinas "was stepping down," according to
Al Lewis of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. Neinas, who had
"intended to serve until" Ascent's sports assets were sold
"in a new deal to" Donald Sturm, will return to his CO-based
sports consulting business, but will remain Chair of
Ascent's BOD. Ascent will be "run by committees" of its BOD
"until it hires a new CEO or dispenses with its assets." In
a statement released yesterday, Ascent "reiterated its
threat to sue Sturm over the broken deal" and stated that it
would "continue to seek a qualified buyer" for its assets.
Meanwhile, John Elway, who "was part of a group of investors
led by" Denver business exec Bjorn Erik Borgen, said that he
"didn't have much interest in buying" the sports assets.
Elway: "I've talked to Erik maybe once and had no contact
with Ascent" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 12/22). Elway: "Do I
have any interest? You know, I don't know. I have been
focused on MVP.com" (DENVER POST, 12/22).
