MANLEY CHALLENGES NHL PLAYERS UNION TO STEP UP TO HELP SPORT

Canadian Federal Industry Minister John Manley said
yesterday that NHL players "should take a pay cut to show
their concerns" about the future of hockey in Canada,
according to Stephanie Rubec of the EDMONTON SUN. Manley:
"I don't have high hopes that the players will make a
contribution, but I do think the league needs to." Manley
adds, "On a long-term (basis) the health of the NHL requires
