LIGHTNING STRIKES: TEAM LANDS PROMINENT TV RIGHTS AGREEMENT

The Lightning announced yesterday that it has landed
its "most extensive" TV rights package in club history,
according to Tom Jones of the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, who
writes that the agreement calls for 51 games to be shown on
the Sunshine Network with nine additional games to be
carried by WTTA-WB. Financial terms of the deal were not
disclosed. In addition to carrying Lightning games,
Sunshine has agreed to produce two different Lightning shows
during the regular season: a 30-minute pregame show, "NHL
Lightning Tonight," which will air before each of the games
on Sunshine; and "Lightning Weekly," a weekly 30-minute
"news and notes" program. Sunshine will also produce a 30-
minute preseason special (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 8/25).
