BELLSOUTH AND ADELPHIA REACH SETTLEMENT ON TITANS STADIUM

          A legal dispute between BellSouth and Adelphia
     Communications "over access" to the Titans' new stadium
     "appears to have been settled," according to John Shiffman
     of the Nashville TENNESSEAN.  Adelphia and BellSouth "had
     battled over voice, data and television lines in the
     complex" (See THE DAILY, 8/18).  The Titans "argued that
     their lease with the city gave them the right to pick a
     phone service provider for the stadium."  BellSouth said
     that state and federal law gave them the right to "lay cable
     in public facilities and let consumers decide which company
     to use."  Sources said that under the proposed settlement,
     BellSouth "will retain use of lines it has already
     installed, and Adelphia will provide phone service to the
     Titans and others" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/19).
