WELCOME TO THE MACHINE: TOP BOX TO HOOK UP ARENA SUITES

SC-based Top Box, which wires sports arena luxury boxes
with systems providing Web access, videoconferencing and
"other high-tech offerings," will announce deals next month
with 21 sports arenas to "install its communications
package," according to David Sweet of the WALL STREET
JOURNAL. Top Box Founder & CEO Tracy McGee "wouldn't
divulge" the deals, but said that "one-third of the stadiums
are outside the U.S." The Top Box system costs $55,000 per
suite. McGee "expects" Top Box to gross $30M this year, and
ad sales will "comprise a chunk" of Top Box's income, as a
two-minute Cadillac commercial could run "on one of the two
17-inch computer screens within the suites." At the moment,
Pro Player Stadium is the "only stadium wired with the
technology" (See THE DAILY, 1/6) (WALL ST JOURNAL, 8/11)
