DO LOOKS MATTER WHEN LOOKING FOR THE NEXT NASCAR DRIVER?

          Felix Sabates "will run" driver Jeff Green in the No. 1
     Chevrolet sponsored by cellular phone company TracFone in
     seven Winston Cup races this year, becoming the third Sabco
     Winston team, according to David Poole of the CHARLOTTE
     OBSERVER.  Sabates, on Green: "Driving ability is only part
     of it.  You've got to look for somebody who has nice looks.
     ... Today, this is marketing" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/23).
          NASCAR NOTES: The USPS unveiled a "commemorative stamp
     honoring stock car racing" before The Winston at Lowe's
     Motor Speedway in Charlotte Saturday.  The stamp is one of
     15 honoring the 50s as part of the Postal Service's
     "Celebrate the Century" program (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/22).
     ...All profits "from the sale of merchandise associated
     with" the special car driven by Dale Jarrett in The Winston
     "will be donated" to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
     Foundation (Greensboro NEWS & RECORD, 5/22)....The IRL's
     Galles Racing team promises that 50% of the "money raised
     for racing sponsorships will go to medical research" to
     benefit people with spinal cord injuries, and that 90% of
     money raised by the Spinal Conquest Foundation "will go to
     research" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 5/24).
