MLB Commissioner Bud Selig visited San Diego on Tuesday
and told city officials of MLB's wish to have the Padres
ballpark project reach completion "as expeditiously as is
humanly possible." The Padres and the city face an April 1
deadline to make "sufficient assurances" to one another that
the project is on schedule and "should proceed." Selig
"made it clear that any breach of the April 1 deadline would
be 'very harmful'" (UNION-TRIBUNE, 3/24)....Dover Downs
Int'l Speedway President Denis McGlynn said putting Trump
Superspeedway in the N.Y. area is not a threat: "We have a
lot going on in Dover. ... About 20 percent of the fans who
come to Dover are from the New York-New England area. We're
not really concerned about losing them because the true race
fan typically attends 4 or 5 races a year" (PHILA. INQUIRER,
3/25)....NY-based Sportservice signed a 10-year concession/
merchandise deal with Diamond Stadium operator Lakeside
Sports and Entertainment. Diamond Stadium is the home of
