CHICAGO HOCKEY FANS LOYAL TO MORE THAN ONE TEAM

The IHL Wolves are debunking the old line that "there
are only 20,000 hockey fans in the Chicago area," as the
team is enjoying "stellar crowds" this season, according to
Jeff Vorva of the DAILY SOUTHTOWN. On February 28, the two
teams had head-to-head home games and the Blackhawks drew
16,475, while the Wolves drew 13,101. This past weekend, a
Wolves game drew 13,612, while the Blackhawks had an
announced a crowd of 17,566 (DAILY SOUTHTOWN, 3/16). In a
sidebar, Vorva reviewed the atmosphere at the games, as the
Blackhawks present "more traditional entertainment," while
the Wolves pull out "a few tricks." Wolves Exec VP/
Business Operations Adam Fox, whose team played on green ice
last weekend for St. Patrick's Day: "I know it's hard to say
this -- since we're using green ice -- but we're not going
to gimmick up the game. We try to gimmick up everything
else. We try to bring an NBA major-league entertainment
value at the minor-league level" (DAILY SOUTHTOWN, 3/16).
