Primestar announced this morning that it has reached an
agreement with Hughes Electronics and DirecTV for the rights
its DBS assets in a transaction valued at $500M (Primestar).
...In L.A., Larry Stewart reports that local ratings for
"Fox Sports News," airing from 10:00-11:00pm, have "doubled"
since the addition of Keith Olbermann. Also, Fox Sports
News has made deals with four sponsors -- three beer
companies and an Internet service worth about $10M -- since
Olbermann's arrival (L.A. TIMES, 1/22)....CBS plans to air
the NASCAR Busch Series race at Nashville Speedway live on
April 3. The race was originally scheduled to run on TNN,
but a scheduling conflict arose and CBS will now carry it
(Nashville TENNESSEAN, 1/22)....In N.Y., Lawrence Van Gelder
calls "Olympic Glory," the newly released documentary on the
'98 Winter Olympic Games, "polished and often breathtaking"
(N.Y. TIMES, 1/22)....In Baltimore, Milton Kent reviews NFL
Films' special on Lifetime tonight, "A Woman's Touch," and
writes that it has the "feel of NFL propaganda" with the
"soft-filter lenses and swirling music fills" targeted for a
timely Super Bowl release (SUN, 1/22)....The National
Lacrosse League is continuing negotiations with ESPN
officials "in the hope" that the network will carry the
league's April playoff games (DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE, 1/22).
