TIGERS USE FINALE AT TIGER STADIUM AS SEASON-TICKET BAIT

The only way for Tigers fans to purchase tickets for
the final game at Tiger Stadium on September 27 is to buy a
season-ticket plan in their new stadium ranging from 21 to
81 games, according to Tom Gage of the DETROIT NEWS. With
the Tiger Stadium finale "going to be a major event," the
team won't offer group discounts as they normally do and
individual tickets for the final game won't go on sale
February 27 along with those for other games. Tigers
VP/Business Operations Dave Glazier said that several six-
game plans, including the finale, will go on sale after the
team's home-opener on April 12. He added that individual
tickets for the final game would go on sale "at some point
after that." In addition, early season sales indicate that
this season's attendance "will go far beyond" the 1.4
million the Tigers drew in '98 (DETROIT NEWS, 1/20).
