FRANCHISE NOTES

          The largest crowd in Vikings history, 64,232, turned
     out at the Metrodome Sunday for the Vikings' win over the
     Bengals (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 11/16).  MN Gov.-elect
     Jesse Ventura, on a new stadium for the Vikings: "I made a
     promise to the people of Minnesota that there won't be
     public dollars spent on that.  We have tremendous private
     businesses here. ... These are brilliant people, they can
     figure out how to get it done in the private sector" ("The
     NFL Today," CBS, 11/15)....The NFL "has made helping the
     Bears get a new stadium in Chicago one of its priorities." 
     NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue: "Chicago and Arizona will
     be two of the cities that we would expect to be spending
     time on in the months ahead" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/16).
