THE RHYTHM IS GONNA' GET YOU AT THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW

          Gloria Estefan and Stevie Wonder will star in the
     Progressive Auto Insurance Super Bowl XXXIII Halftime Show
     at Pro Player Stadium on January 31, 1999.  Fox will
     broadcast the 10-minute show, which will be produced by
     Radio City Entertainment, which has done five Super Bowl
     halftime shows (NFL).  Estefan's husband, Emilio, is
     designing the show.  Negotiations "are ongoing to secure a
     top swing band to attract the younger audience" (Alan Snel,
     SUN-SENTINEL, 11/15).  NFL Dir of Corporate Communications
     Chris Widmaier called Wonder and Estefan "performers who
     appealed to a wide range of people.  They are in a class by
     themselves" (Barry Jackson, MIAMI HERALD, 11/15).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more

SBJ I Factor features an interview with Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. The second-ever MWC commissioner chats with SBJ’s Ross Nethery about her climb through the collegiate ranks. Nevarez is a member of SBJ’s Game Changers Class of 2019. Nevarez has had stints at the conference level in the Pac-12, West Coast Conference, and Mountain West Conference as well as at the college level at Oklahoma, Cal, and San Jose State. She shares stories of that journey as well as how being a former student-athlete guides her decision-making today. SBJ I Factor is a monthly podcast offering interviews with sports executives who have been recipients of one of the magazine’s awards.
