MCNAIR SEEKS MINORITY INVESTORS FOR HOUSTON NFL BID

Houston business exec Bob McNair "is looking for
minority partners" in an attempt to achieve "ethnic balance"
in his bid for an NFL franchise in that city, according to
John Williams of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. So far "he has
talked with potential African-American investors" such as
Seahawks QB Warren Moon and Bills RB Thurman Thomas, and
Hispanic "banker-oil magnate" Tony Sanchez Jr. McNair is
also looking for an Asian-American investor. McNair "will
continue his search for investors today" by holding a
meeting at the River Oaks Country Club with "roughly" 80
people "who want a part of the prospective" NFL team.
McNair, who said that he will be "calling the shots" on the
team, must own at least 30% of the team as a general partner
under league rules, while the remaining 70% can be split
among as many as 24 limited partners. Though he "won't know
the ownership makeup until after an expansion fee is set,"
McNair said he "will pick up the difference" if investors
don't purchase the maximum 70% (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/10).
