THE STREET.COM WONDERS WHY SPORTSLINE IS "SECOND-TIER" STOCK

"Does SportsLine really deserve to be a second-tier
Internet stock?," wondered Eric Moskowitz on THESTREET.com.
Moskowitz: "The stock is down more than 70% since July, even
as it continues to rev up revenue. ... Despite an arguably
superior site, SportsLine's brand name is not as glamorous
as ESPN.com." Moskowitz wrote that SportsLine "can still
turn the tables" on ESPN.com through its expanded
relationship with AOL, where it will "provide sports news to
some 13 million AOL subscribers, or almost 50% of the online
community in the U.S." But while SportsLine has made new
development deals, Moskowitz wrote, "The trick is to turn
Web traffic into dollars and cents" (THESTREET.com, 10/26).
SportsLine USA stock closed yesterday at 14 3/4, up 13/16 a
share on the NASDAQ (THE DAILY).
