"ARLI$$" HAS STORIES TO TELL, AND HBO PLANS TO TELL THEM

HBO has renewed "Arli$$," according to John Dempsey of
DAILY VARIETY. HBO execs "declined to comment on the
decision," but sources said that the network could make the
announcement "within the next two weeks." Dempsey wrote
that the return of "Arli$$" was "unexpected," as it "was
facing cancellation," but when "word of the show's impending
doom got out to the media last month, particularly to the
sports pages, HBO got deluged with thousands of e-mail
messages urging that 'Arli$$' stay on the air." HBO will
pick up the show for 12 more episodes -- the same number as
each of its first three seasons (DAILY VARIETY, 10/26).
