FACILITY NOTES

In Denver, Michael Chambers reports that Pikes Peak
Int'l Raceway (PPIR) GM Lex Dudas and most of his staff
"were fired" Thursday by PPIR owners after a season "that
featured disappointing crowds watching some of the world's
best auto-racing." Besides Dudas, Marketing Dir Chris
Johnson and five others were dismissed. PPIR ownership rep
Linda Clifford said the raceway's headquarters, currently 90
miles south of Denver, would move to Denver. Clifford: "We
want to refocus both where corporate headquarters are
located and who is running the management. We have this
great race track, and we had a lot of people at our races,
but we could have delivered the message a lot better"
     (DENVER POST, 10/23)....In Chicago, a SUN-TIMES/NEWS 2 poll
of 400 residents who expect to vote November 3 found that
57% say it's not important that the Bears remain in the
city, while 39% say it is (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 10/23).
