          Kirch Group Managing Dir Dieter Hahn said that "the
     participation of Rupert Murdoch seems increasingly unlikely"
     as a partner in the restructuring of the German media
     company (DAILY VARIETY, 9/24)....In Dallas, Holly Cain, on
     NBC joining ABC, CBS, ESPN and TNN as a NASCAR TV partner:
     "This television saturation is probably good for NASCAR.  It
     shows that the series is so popular, everyone wants a piece
     of it.  But at some point, NASCAR's network juggling act may
     prove confusing to the viewers.  We like things simple.  And
     guessing which station the race is on every week could get
     real old" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/24)....The Golf Channel
     (TGC) will premiere its "biggest original production," a
     two-hour documentary titled "Arnold Palmer: Golf's Heart and
     Soul," on October 28 at 9:00pm.  Palmer is Chair of TGC and
     owns a small piece of the channel as well (DAILY VARIETY,
     9/24)....Fox Sports Chicago reached the three million
     subscriber mark.  The net started in '84 with 13,000
     subscribers, when it was known as SportsVision (FSC).
