NASCAR'S '99 WINSTON CUP SCHEDULE INCLUDES FLORIDA PIT STOP

The '99 Winston Cup season is "shaping up to be the
longest in NASCAR's 'modern era'" and will start February 14
with the Daytona 500 and conclude November 21 in Atlanta,
according to Jim Utter of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The
season will include 35 races -- including a new stop in FL
at the Metro-Dade Homestead Complex. Utter reports that
"most dates appear to be similar" to '98 and that all 34
races this season will remain for '99. Homestead is the
sixth track to be added to the Winston Cup schedule in seven
years. NASCAR is expected to officially release its 1999
schedule in mid-August (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/31).
SOUTH PARK: The first NASCAR SpeedPark in Myrtle Beach,
SC, held its grand opening this week. The 26-acre complex
features up to six race tracks, arcades, interactive centers
and two 18-hole miniature golf courses. The SpeedPark is
owned and operated by International Speed Parks, a
subsidiary of Burroughs & Chapin Co. (NASCAR).
