NO TEE TIME ON THE LYNX: COMPANY FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY

CA-based Lynx Golf "has filed a petition for voluntary
bankruptcy, laid off nearly half of its work force and is
working with a creditor in an effort to survive," according
to Michael Kinsman of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Lynx,
which was bought by a group of celebrities in '97 led by
Fred Couples, "failed to respond" to inquiries from the
newspaper, but said in a statement that it hopes to "obtain
interim bankruptcy court approval of its financial
reorganization plan within several days." Kinsman wrote
that the bankruptcy "surprised few," since Lynx has lost
money from several years (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 7/28).
HIBERNATION FOR THE BEAR? NASDAQ spokesperson Reid
Walker said that trading of Golden Bear Golf shares "has
been halted indefinitely, pending receipt of additional
information from the company" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/29).
