ADVERTISING AGREEMENT MAY SPUR FINANCING PLAN IN HOUSTON

Houston business exec Bob McNair and the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo "have a tentative agreement" to
share ad revenues from a proposed NFL stadium, "a hurdle to
completing a financing plan," according to John Williams of
the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Once a deal is approved by Harris
County officials, McNair and the rodeo can begin negotiating
with the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority to finance a
new stadium in hopes of landing an NFL franchise. McNair
wants to show a final financing plan to NFL owners in
September. Under the proposed deal, 83% of the naming
rights would go to the football team, 12% to the rodeo and
5% to the county; 95% of the "in-door fixed advertising
would be split equally" between both entities; with the
county getting 5%. The football team and rodeo "would
control revenues that each sells for rotating signs to their
own events." McNair and rodeo officials believe advertising
and naming rights would raise more than $8M annually (John
     Williams, HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/30).
