EVENT & ATTRACTION NOTES: MTV SPORTS WALK IN MEMPHIS

          MTV has selected Memphis, TN, to host the second annual
     Sports & Music Festival, the net's "answer to" the X Games. 
     The event, which combines alternative sports and live music
     performances, will be held October 16-18, and will broadcast
     for the weekend of November 7 (USA TODAY, 7/23).
          NOTES: A USTA source "confirmed" to the RICHMOND TIMES-
     DISPATCH that the U.S.-Italy Davis Cup semi-final match set
     for September 25-27 will not be held in Richmond.  The USTA
     is expected to announce the site today, and "all indications
     are that it will be Milwaukee."  Other potential sites
     include San Diego and Detroit (TIMES-DISPATCH, 7/23).
     ...Magic Johnson Theatres "will be one of the anchor
     tenants" in the $75M complex expected to break ground Monday
     in Harlem.  The complex will also feature a Modell's, which
     has plans for a Harlem-themed Hall of Fame.  Inductees will
     include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nate Archibald, Rod Carew and
     Althea Gibson (N.Y. POST, 7/23)....The USFSA has selected
     Los Angeles and Portland, OR, as finalists to host the 2002
     National Figure Skating Championships (USFSA).
