FACILITY NOTES

Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner writes an Op-Ed in
the N.Y. DAILY NEWS under the header "How To Keep the Yanks
in New York." Steinbrenner: "[T]here exists an unusual
degree of negativism among some politicians, the news media
and others to put roadblocks in the way of my desire to keep
the Yankees in New York City. ... If no other city was
interested in attracting the Yankees, maybe this would make
some sense. But all of this occurs as New Jersey beckons.
... I plead with New York: Don't force us to do what we
don't want to do" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/14)....Maple Leafs
officials said that "only about four" of the 40 "platinum
lounges" remain available for lease at the Air Canada
Centre. Each runs between C$320,000-350,000. While
speculation has companies that had owned boxes at the
SkyDome for the Raptors and at Maple Leaf Gardens for the
Leafs, "combining their expenses," Leafs VP/Business
Development Brian Cooper said, "We have found companies team
up with other companies but, a little surprisingly, more and
more companies are saying they want to go at it alone"
     (TORONTO STAR, 7/14).
