          Tuesday night's Mets-Devil Rays game, which marked P
     Hideo Nomo's Mets debut, earned a 3.5 rating on Fox Sports
     NY.  It was the highest-rated Mets game in the history of
     FSNY or its predecessor, SportsChannel NY (N.Y. POST, 6/11).
     ...CBS will televise the Senior Tennis circuit's "The
     Challenge," featuring John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn
     Borg and Yannick Noah, with same-day taped coverage on June
     20 and 21 from 4:00-6:00pm ET (CBS Sports)....A study by SRi
     found that 982 million people in 195 countries watched CART
     broadcasts in '97.  The number represents an increase of 8.3
     million viewers from '96 (CART)....SportsTicker will provide
     scores, news, stats and other info to DataLink Systems
     Corporation for use with DataLink's new real-time sports
     alert product, SportsX (SportsTicker)...."Spike hosted by
     Kent Steffes," a beach volleyball TV magazine show, will air
     this summer on Fox Sports Net and feature a behind-the-
     scenes look at the sport (P.S./StarGames).
