WAC FULFILLS ITS QWEST FOR SPONSOR $$ WITH THREE-YEAR DEAL

CO-based multimedia company Qwest has become an
official corporate sponsor of the Western Athletic
Conference (WAC) and the exclusive communications services
provider for the WAC (Qwest). In Denver, Michele Conklin
reported that under terms of the three-year deal, the WAC
headquarters will use Qwest's fiber-optic system to
communicate with its members. In addition, Qwest will "get
the opportunity to build its name" through advertising at
WAC events and will participate in conference promotions,
merchandising, licensing and hospitality benefits. Terms of
the deal were not disclosed. Qwest was formed in '88 by NHL
Kings and MLS Rapids/Fire Owner Philip Anschutz. Qwest went
public this summer (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 11/11).
