     has served as Acting Dir of PR for the past three months and
     has been with Nike since '92 (Nike)....IAN ARTHUR, former Dir
     of Marketing at Head Sports, has joined Nike as its Global
     Dir of Tennis (TENNIS WEEK, 8/14)....BARBARA THOMAS was named
     Senior VP/Operations & Finance at Time Warner Sports.  She
     had been VP/Sports Program Planning & Finance at HBO (Time
     Warner Sports)....Woolworth named REID JOHNSON as its Senior
     VP/CFO (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 8/14)....The Devil Rays
     named MIKE FLANAGAN Dir of Publications....The Pacific Coast
     League named BRANCH RICKEY III its President (SportsTicker).
