          In FORBES, Ann Marsh examines the growth in women's
     surfing under the header, "Surfer Girls."  The worldwide
     women's surf apparel market has grown from $25M in '92 to
     $300M in '97, while Gotcha and Quicksilver have introduced
     women's surf apparel lines, and companies like Motorola,
     Chevron, Sun Microsystems and Casio have used female surfers
     in promos (FORBES, 8/11 issue)....NFLP has added seven new
     licensees in the watch and jewelry category: FL-based
     Aurafin and Sun Time Enterprises; TX-based Balfour and
     Fossil; and NY-based Bulova, Michael Anthony Jewelers and
     Fantasma.  Items will be available at department stores,
     jewelry retailers, sporting goods stores and on QVC's NFL
     Team Shop show (NFL)....OR-based The Hoop, which operates
     recreational and amateur basketball clubs, is negotiating
     with NC-based investor Janet Fort on an East Coast
     franchising deal.  Nike is a corporate partner of The Hoop 
     (Portland BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/28).
