SLOW TICKET SALES FOR OILERS' EXHIBITION OPENER IN MEMPHIS

Only about 12,500 tickets have been sold as of Monday
afternoon for the NFL Oilers exhibition opener Saturday
against the Saints at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium,
according to Thomas Harding of the Memphis COMMERCIAL
APPEAL. Oilers Exec VP/Administration Mike McClure "hopes"
that after the team spends Thursday and Friday making
appearances in Memphis, 20,000-25,000 will attend the game.
McClure added "that even though no NFL team playing in a new
territory has ever averaged fewer than 50,000, he would be
happy with 30,000-40,000 for the regular-season opener"
     (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 7/29).
