SITE CHOSEN FOR NEW BRONCOS STADIUM, VOTE TO COME NEXT YEAR

In Denver, the stadium site commission yesterday chose
the Denver Sports Complex as the home for a potential new
Broncos stadium, "but voters will have to wait until next
year to decide if they want to contribute $180 million in
public money toward a stadium project," according to Alan
Snel of the DENVER POST. The site commission now "hands
off" the site to a separate regional panel, the Metropolitan
Denver Football Stadium Board, "which is expected to
announce a timetable today indicating there is not enough
time to arrange for a stadium sales tax election in the
fall." The sports complex site was chosen over Denver's
retired Stapleton airport, which would've "cost too much and
taken too long to build" (DENVER POST, 7/30).
