MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

          In WI, 8-year-old Taryn Stewart was chosen from among
     20,000 entries to play a pickup football game with the
     Packers as part of Shopko's WI sponsorship of the NFL "Play
     Football" campaign for kids.  Packers Mark Chmura and Adam
     Timmerman will play flag football with Taryn and 20 friends
     at the girl's house (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/18)....In
     Canada, Coopers & Lybrand and Dynamic Mutual Funds are
     partnering in a C$1.1M sponsorship of the Canadian rowing
     team that runs through 2000.  The deal includes job
     opportunities for rowers and event sponsorship (Toronto
     GLOBE & MAIL, 6/19)....In N.Y., Mark McLaughlin reports that
     GolfWatch will make its second appearance this year at this
     week's Buick Classic in Harrison, NY (N.Y. POST, 6/19).
     ...On ESPN SportsZone, Frank Deford writes under the header
     "Cigarette Advertising Going Up In Smoke."  Deford: "No
     doubt but that the first great sports question of the
     twenty-first century is whether we must render only unto
     athletics that which is healthy" (ESPN SportsZone, 6/19).
     ...Rollerblade Inc. founder Scott Olson has filed a lawsuit
     against the company, claiming failure to pay royalties on
     foreign sales of in-line skates.  Also named are parent
     company Nordica and Robert Naegele Jr., who bought out Olson
     in '85 (L.A. TIMES, 6/19)....Packers Brett Favre and Reggie
     White filmed a FCB, Chicago, TV spot at Soldier Field
     Tuesday for S.C. Johnson's Edge shaving gel (CHICAGO
     TRIBUNE, 6/18)....OH-based Ron Foth Advertising has been
     named the agency for Palace Sports & Entertainment (ADWEEK,
     6/16)....Sporting goods retailer Sports Zone has installed a
     three-story poster of Michael Jordan at its store in
     Washington, DC's Georgetown section (WASHINGTON POST, 6/19).
