O'S PARKERS PREPARING FOR A HIKE TO THE BALLPARK

Construction on the Ravens stadium has taken up almost
half of Oriole Park's parking, or 2,600 spaces, according to
Jon Morgan of the Baltimore SUN. The MD Stadium Authority
(MSA) has replaced most of the lost spots with nearby lots,
but the "displacement" will force hundreds of cars into
nearby garages, causing new competition among fans "used to
slipping into spots" a couple blocks from the ballpark. The
parking changes will "likely trigger" compensation payments
to the Orioles from the MSA for lost parking revenue. Last
year, there was parking for 5,600 cars, by Opening Day, that
number will be reduced to 3,000. Morgan: "This has forced
the stadium authority to lease spaces in a hodgepodge of
nearby lots to come up with the 5,000 spaces it has to
provide the Orioles, according to their lease." MSA must
pay the Orioles to make up for lost revenue if there are
less than 5,000 parking spaces. On-site parking profits are
shared between the Orioles and MSA (Baltimore SUN, 3/22).
