STADIUM NOTES

The Tigers have leased 27 suites for $75,000 annually
over four years, and leased 27 suites at $75,000 over seven
years, at their planned new ballpark. The team still has
about 26 of the 80 suites left to lease and "just now is
starting a public campaign to sell them" (DETROIT FREE PRESS,
3/17)....49ers President Carmen Policy met with MLB Giants
Owner Peter Magowan and Exec VP Larry Baer in Scottsdale, AZ.
Policy: "We're coordinating some things. The Giants are
helping us. We're just going to talk to them about some of
the problems they faced and get some ideas on what type of
support they might be able to lend us" (S.F. EXAMINER,
3/16)....MLB stadium consultant Robert Starkey has met with
Hamilton County, OH, officials about "small-market baseball
economics." Starkey has "emphasized team contribution to
parks built during the 1990s averages between" $28-30M. The
county wants the Reds to commit more than the $40M the
Bengals are contributing to a new facility because of the
greater use of the ballpark (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 3/16).
