REDSKINS STIR UP NEIGHBORHOOD OVER LIQUOR LICENSE

          The Redskins announced plans for a year-round
     restaurant with a liquor license at their new Landover, MD,
     stadium, according to Terry Neal of the WASHINGTON POST. 
     The news "angered some community activists and prompted some
     legislators to demand new concessions from owner Jack Kent
     Cooke."  Cooke won approval for the stadium "partly by
     assuring nearby residents that the facility would be used
     only a few days a year."  Legislators in Prince George, MD,
     must authorize liquor licenses in the county, and "some
     warned they may oppose a license unless the Redskins make
     further concessions," which could include "a higher-than-
     recommended license fee and strict adherence to goals for
     hiring minority contractors" (WASHINGTON POST, 1/15).
