STADIUM NOTES

In Seattle, a new lease that reduced Seahawks
committment to the Kingdome to three years at the insistence
of potential buyer Owner Paul Allen is "still not completed"
and "might cost the county" nearly $9M, instead of the $5M
reported Monday, according to the Metropolitan King County
Council budget committee. Several members of the county
council also said the agreement doesn't yet have enough
support to pass (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 12/12)....Daytona
Beach, FL-based International Speedway Corp. is considering
Greater Kansas City as a possible site for a 120,000-seat,
     $100M international speedway (K.C. STAR, 12/13)....Turner
Broadcasting System and Atlanta government officials reached
an agreement for a $213M arena to be built on the current
site of the Omni. Turner agreed to the deal after the
Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority rescinded a
resolution to name the plaza outside the Braves' new stadium
after Hank Aaron, which the team said usurped its rights to
name the area (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 12/13)....Changes to
Busch Stadium in St. Louis will include the addition of a
270-foot, hand-operated scoreboard that will stretch across
the upper tier of the stadium in center field. The
scoreboard and other changes made will reduce stadium
capacity from 57,673 to 49,676 (ARIZONA DAILY STAR, 12/13).
