MLS PUTS AD AGENCIES IN ACCOUNT SHOOT-OUT

MLS is holding its first ad agency review since
completing the move of corporate offices from L.A. to New
York City, according to Terry Lefton in BRANDWEEK. Agencies
involved include NY's Young & Rubicam, FCB/Leber Katz and
McCann-Erickson, with an agency for the estimated $2M
account "expected" to be named in January. While lacking
details, MLS officials said that the assignment was to
create ads that would build a TV viewership and "sell the
league's top stars." MLS Senior VP/Corporate Marketing
Randy Bernstein: "We aren't asking for full-blown
presentations. We are looking for creative brand-building
     ideas" (BRANDWEEK, 12/9 issue).
KRAFT IN THE FOLD: BRANDWEEK'S Lefton also notes MLS
has signed Kraft as its 25th corporate affiliate. The
company, "per a three-year sponsorship," will use MLS in the
planned '97 relaunch of Tang drink (BRANDWEEK, 12/9 issue).
