FACE THE FACE: THE NORTH FACE ON THE HUNT FOR NEW AD FIRM

     The North Face, the CA-based outerwear and camping gear
marketer, is looking for an ad firm to handle creative duties,
according to Teresa Buyikian of ADWEEK.  The company spends about
$1-2M a year on advertising, and the selected shop may also
receive additional projects.  Buyikian notes several undisclosed,
small to mid-sized, West Coast agencies have been contacted so
far.  A decision is expected by early October.  The North Face
Communications Manager Jon Schleuning: "We need an agency that
can respond and help the brand grow."  Schleuning said the ads
will primarily be print, with radio and point-of-sale ads
possible.  The new campaign will target outdoor extreme sports
enthusiasts who mountain, ice and wall climb (ADWEEK, 9/9 issue).
