LEAGUE NOTES

     The USTA will re-do the U.S. Open Men's Singles draw today,
due to concerns expressed by the players.  USTA President Les
Snyder: "By remaking the draw, the USTA will protect the
integrity of the draw process " (USTA).  ATP Tour CEO Mark Miles
said, "Everybody was offended by the sequence of doing the draw
before naming the seeds" (USA TODAY, 8/23)....The Cowboys' Troy
Aikman has agreed to comply with the NFLP rules on logo
identification, directly relating to his shoe contract with
adidas.  NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello: "We do not expect any more
problems or fines."  Aikman was fined for playing in games
without covering the adidas logo on his shoes.  Adidas is a non-
NFL licensee  (AP/FT.WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 8/22)....SI's Gerry
Callahan profiled the Mets-Padres series in Monterrey and writes
MLB expansion in Mexico "looked like a distant dream, not unlike
the possibility of Mrs. Fields opening a cookie store on Neptune.
It may happen by the turn of the century, but we're not talking
about the next century" (SI, 8/26 issue).
