CBS TO BE IN YOUR EYES: NET DETAILS CABLE CHANNEL

     CBS announced it will launch Eye on People, a cable channel
carrying "reality-based programming on contemporary and
historical personalities."  The channel will launch in March and
CBS is offering it exclusively to cable operators in exchange for
retransmission of its broadcast signal in New York, Chicago, L.A.
and several other markets were it has O&O's (Battaglio &
Hettrick, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 8/21).  Westinghouse's Group W
Satellite Communications will provide marketing and ad-sales for
the channel (Mark Robichaux, WALL STREET JOURNAL, 8/21).  CBS
divisions, "especially news and sports," will supply programming,
as will the Discovery Channel (Bill Carter, N.Y. TIMES, 8/21).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
