7-ELEVEN LOOKS AT MLB AS A GOOD CALL WITH PHONE CARD DEAL

     7-Eleven has announced the release of its new Classic MLB
Phonecards beginning in June.  The collector's series of prepaid,
long-distance cards will feature Cal Ripken Jr. and eleven other
MLB stars including Frank Thomas, Hideo Nomo, Jeff Conine, Ken
Griffey Jr., Greg Maddux, Wade Boggs, Ivan Rodriguez, Barry
Bonds, Kirby Puckett, Mo Vaughn and Tony Gwynn.  Each player will
be featured on a 15-minute phone card priced the same as 7-
Eleven's regular phone cards. Four cards will be released each
month in June, July and August.  TV ads announcing the cards will
feature Ripken and start airing June 1 on Fox's MLB coverage on
spot TV in major markets.  7-Eleven spokesperson Walt Abele:  "We
learned a lot from the 7-Eleven NFL Quarterback Club phone card
series introduced last fall.  It had a tremendous impact on our
phone card sales.  We expect the Major League Baseball series to
be even more successful" (7-Eleven).
