NAMES IN THE NEWS

     An employee at the bar in Chicago, at which MIKE TYSON is
accused of committing sexual battery, claims Tyson is innocent.
An attorney representing a 25-year-old woman alleges Tyson
assaulted her in the private room of a South Side club.  No
charges have been filed (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/10)....NANCY
LIEBERMAN-CLINE and GRANT HILL will be among the honored guests
at the 2nd annual Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health's
"Sports Ball '96" fund-raiser event, April 18 in New York.
ESPN's ROBIN ROBERTS and NBC's BOB COSTAS co-host (Arthur Ashe
Institute)....This year's winners of the Giant Steps Award were
honored at the White House last Friday.  The awards, chosen in
conjunction with National Student-Athlete Day, were given to
Mount St. Marys' MICHAEL WATSON and UConn's JENNIFER RIZOTTI in
the Courageous Student-Athlete category.  DAVE CLARK won in the
Coach category, and NFL Commissioner PAUL TAGILABUE and NFLPA's
GENE UPSHAW were awarded as Civic Leaders (Center for Sport and
Society)....Female boxer CHRISTY MARTIN is this week's SI cover
story (SI, 4/15 issue).
