A BIG EASY? SUPER BOWL XXXI ORGANIZERS SEARCH FOR SPONSORS

Carol Asher, Dir of Marketing for the Greater New Orleans
Sports Foundation (GNOSF), says it will take about $3M to fulfill
hosting obligations for Super Bowl XXXI, according to New Orleans
CITY BUSINESS. GNOSF is spearheading all Super Bowl efforts and
seeking corporate sponsors to finance game activities. GNOSF
offers two sponsorship packages, one for $150,000 and another for
$200,000, that include use of the host committee logo in
advertising, tickets to the game and a number of "other perks."
Phoenix organizers had more than $6M in corporate sponsorships
and hosted more than 100 events during Super Bowl XXX, but GNOSF
Exec Dir Doug Thorton notes that Phoenix was hosting its first
Super Bowl. Also, special events began in October and were held
all across the state. Sponsorship dollars were also easier to
come by in AZ as there was statewide recruitment. GNOSF's task
will be made harder by the fact that only a few companies in the
area can afford a $200,000 contribution. GNOSF also has to make
sure none of those companies are competitors with the NFL's 60
active sponsors. Asher says, ideally, they would like 20
sponsors for the event, and while they have not signed any yet,
she hopes to have two signed by the end of March (Brad Hoeschen,
